Brightase-C is a recombinant Grimontia hollisae collagenase that is expressed in Brevibacillus. Unlike the commonly used C. histolyticum collagenase, Brightase-C can cleave sequences with glutamic acid and degrade undenatured type VI collagen. Brightase-C is highly purified to remove contaminating proteinases, yielding improved run-to-run and lot-to-lot reproducibility.
Brightase-C and Brightase-TH were used in combination to digest mouse pancreas and isolate functional beta cells.
No animal products are used in the production of Brightase-C.
